FINE STONEWARE: NO WATER ADDITION, NO MICRO-DRAINAGE.
Fine stoneware is manufactured when dry powdered clay is pressed under high pressure to tiles. This forced connection will not enable a micro-drainage but a condensed structure with a completely plain and absolutely water impermeable tile profile.
This condensed structure prevents the controlled drainage of water and disables an adequate bonding strength with the subsurface. The result is a poor frost resistance for outside surfaces.
REPRESSED PROBLEMS WILL BECOME LARGER: THEREFORE ALWAYS USE “INTERBAU EXTRUDED” FOR SURFACES OUTSIDE.
Water is a natural force with explosive power. Together with frost the smallest amounts of water can crack tiles.
Fine stoneware is absolutely water proof and has a completely plain surface. Like a lid on a pot it will close the surface on the floor. Natural condensation can not withdraw and will build up an increasing pressure. Sometime it can take years.
Finally the pressure becomes so strong that the fine stoneware tile cracks or it completely detaches from the surface, as the completely plain surface does not allow an optimal bonding strength.
