"Thinking Big with Flexibility"
In late summer 2017, the trade magazine Fliesen & Platten introduced the Interbau-Blink Group’s largest investment to date with this clever headline.
It was both a major innovation and a bold venture—because there was no guarantee of success for the new product line.
However, confidence in the observed market trend of growing demand for large-format ceramics, along with the Foundation Board’s support for the idea of a flexible production line at the Blink site, was just as strong as the ambition behind the project itself.
Thus, in 2016, the final decision was made to take the leap, and the contracts for the new plant were signed in Italy.
It didn’t take long for the project to earn its name: already in 2012, a utility model patent had been registered for large-format ceramic stair tiles—and the new production line was given the same name: GIGA-Line®. On July 15, 2017, the kiln was fired up, marking the start of production on the new large-format tile line.
With the official commissioning of the GIGA-Line® production facility on August 25 and 26, 2017, the milestone was fittingly celebrated with customers, suppliers, local government representatives, and employees. Today, we look back on seven years of GIGA-Line® and express our sincere gratitude for all the support along the way. We look forward to a truly gigantic future.
